Quickly Access your Drive Content Directly from Windows, Mac
Now being everything online, people need to keep a safe copy of their documents, files, photos, videos, and all their content in one place. People prefer to save all the files and folders synced between devices, backed up and organized. In order to help people solve this issue, Google is rolling out a new Drive app that merges and replaces the features of the outgoing Drive File Stream and Backup and Sync apps. Google is introducing various features for Drive for desktop (Mac and Windows) that let users share and sync their files, folders, and all the content across all the devices and in the cloud.
Many people prefer to access Google Drive directly from their mobile apps or web browsers while some people choose to access their photos and files directly on their desktop. The drive which is being developed by Google for desktop makes it easier for people to easily access their content directly from the desktop. In order to save time in syncing your files, the desktop drive automatically syncs all the files to the cloud in the background.
As you can easily directly access your files from the Cloud on your desktop, this saves your network bandwidth and free up your disk space. Google says that the new Drive also includes the previous best features such as syncing external storage data from the Cloud, uploading and syncing all your photos and videos to Google Drive/ Photos, and mirroring the content between cloud and local devices.
Earlier, there were only two options- Backup and Sync which was primarily built for consumer users, and for business users, it was Drive File Stream. But now, launching Drive for desktop includes the best feature from both Drive File Stream and Backup and Sync such as:
- Uploading and syncing photos and videos to Google Drive/ Photos.
- Syncing external storage devices to the cloud including external hard drives and flash drives.
- Mirroring drive files on your desktop gives it quick access to your content.
