Now Finally You Can Use Disappearing Picture Feature On WhatsApp, Here’s How
Insta users and more commonly, Telegram users are already familiar with the concept of disappearing pictures but now WhatsApp too has decided to up their game by introducing the disappearing picture feature. In the app the said feature is known as ‘View Once’. This feature involves sending a photo and the receiver can only view the photo once after which it will automatically disappear. But, here’s a catch, you will have to select View Once media each time you want to send a view once photo or video. Keep reading to know more.
WhatsApp has officially confirmed that no matter what photo or video you send using the said feature, it won’t get saved to the recipient’s media in the phone. Once you send a View Once photo or video, WhatsApp won’t be able to show it again.
WhatsApp won’t even allow you to forward, save, star, or share photos or videos that has been sent or received with View Once media feature.
The Facebook-owned company also said in their official statement that if one doesn’t open the photo or video in the time limit of 14 days after it being sent, the media will automatically expire from the chat. But don’t worry, because even then you will be able to restore the ‘View once media’ from backup only if the receiver hasn’t already read the message.
WhatsApp experts however warned users that if possible you should refrain from send media and should only use the ‘View Once’ feature with ‘trusted’ friends. One should refrain because as of now WhatsApp allows anyone to take a screenshot or screen recording of the media before it disappears and the individual won’t even get notified if someone does so with their picture.
Follow these steps to find out how you can use View Once media on your WhatsApp
Step 1: Firstly you need to open the app and tap on the attachment icon.
Step 2: after tapping on the icon, you have to select Gallery option and then select the photo or video you want to send to your contact.
Step 3: After selecting the media file, you’ll see a clock-like icon in the ‘Add a caption’ bar, just tap on it to enable the View Once feature. Once you enable the option, you will automatically get a message saying “Photo set to View Once.” You can then send disappearing photos to your friends and family members.
