The Indian government is leaving no stone unturned with the launch of Indian apps. The government and the associated agencies have developed several apps as a part of the Digital India initiative. These apps are no less if we talk about all the necessary services that individuals look out for. The government has not only designed these apps for specific sections of the society but for rural households as well like women, children, teachers, farmers, etc.

Here is the list of 10 Indian-made apps.

  • DigiLocker

DigiLocker is an Indian digitization online service developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to help users access the documents stored in the cloud. This app allows all Aadhaar holders to get their original documents such as academic mark sheets, vehicle registration, driving license from the original issuers in digital form. The app provides additional storage of 1GB where you can upload scanned copies of legal documents.

  • mParivahan

It is a vehicle registration app developed by the National Informatics Centre(NIC) to help users get the information they need related to Regional Transport Offices and Vehicles. This app is developed under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways that helps in locating the nearest pollution checking center and RTO. If you are looking to purchase a second-hand vehicle, this app will provide you with all the registration information of the vehicle. With this app, citizens can also apply for a mock driving license test.

  • mPassport

This app is developed by the Ministry of External Affairs as a part of the Passport Seva Project. This app has come up with the Consular, Passport and Visa division that helps the general public to answer their queries related to passport services. All the information related to Passport Seva Portal such as tracking application status, finding the location of Passport Seva Kendra, applying for Passport services, scheduling an appointment, etc is available on this app.

  • UMANG

The UMANG app is the new-age digital governance app designed by the National e-Governance Division along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The necessary services from local to central are all compiled under one App.

  • BHIM UPI App

It is a mobile payment app based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) developed by the National Payments Corporation of India. This is a user-friendly app that allows users to send and receive money directly through banks and encourage cashless transactions. The e-payments process happens by scanning QR codes with the account number, MMID Code, or IFSC code.

  • GST Rate Finder App

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has developed this app under the Ministry of Finance to have GST rates available easily anywhere. This app is designed to let users check and find the GST rates at a restaurant or anywhere in the market.

  • mAadhaar App

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has designed this app to store the soft copy version of the Aadhaar Card digitally. Citizens can do any changes including printing the Aadhaar card with multiple language support, updating the address, or any other additional functions with this app.

  • MADAD App

The MADAD app has been set up by the Ministry of External Affairs for Indian Citizens to log in and track Grievances pertaining to the Consular Services offered by the Indian embassies abroad. The app is made to handle worker abuse, the imprisonment of Indian citizens abroad, repatriation, etc. This app does not help users with visa and passport-related issues.

  • MyGov App

This app has been developed as an innovative platform to build the partnership between the government and the citizens through technology. It makes the citizens aware of the recent happenings in Indian politics and also allows them to comment on the government’s policies and initiatives.

  • Aarogya Setu App

The National Informatics Center has developed this app under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to provide all the information related to Covid-19. This app helps with syndromic mapping, information about vaccination centers, contract tracing, everyday Covid-19 cases, and self-assessment to identify the risk related to Covid-19.
