Google Upgrades its Workspace Tools Making it Available Free for Users

Google has recently announced that it is changing its Workspace services and making it available to all users with a Google account free of cost. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google said that the users will soon be able to access all of Google’s Workspace Collaboration Tools. The tech company in a blog post has explained the new changes in the Google Workspace including the ability to create Rooms in the Google Chat.

Google is updating its Chat Service by replacing Hangouts and enabling all the Collaboration Tools features in one place. The company has also developed a smart canvas feature so that users can take advantage of this feature by turning on Rooms in Google Chat. This feature allows users to keep a checklist, updating everyone up-to-date, keeping track of all the information including photos and videos, and sharing ideas in Google Docs. All those who want to enable Google Chat and access this feature can head over to the Gmail Inbox. Google is also giving a newer look to all its services Docs, Meet, Gmail, Slides, and Sheets.

Google is also adding a powerful feature, that is, ‘@’ mention to Calendar, Gmail, and other Google services for every user. Also, a smart canvas update that is rolling out for Google Docs will be directly compatible with Google Meet for quick presentations. Aparna Pappu, VP Engineering for Google Workspace, and Kelly Waldher, VP Marketing for Google Workspace in a company’s blog explained the reason for making Google Workspace free for all the Google account users to make it easy for people to stay connected, get organized, or discuss over the next meeting.

Google is also coming up with advanced Workspace features for the users later this month. It is a ‘Workspace Individual’ feature that allows users to pay for upgraded features such as personalized email marketing, professional video meetings, and smart booking services, with more features on the way.

Google is also planning to replace the Rooms with Space feature soon for a more streamlined and flexible user interface. Space feature includes expressive reactions, collapsible view, in-line topic threading, presence indicators, and custom statuses. Currently, the Workspace Individual feature is rolling out to only six markets, to begin with- Brazil, Japan, United States, Mexico, Australia, and Canada. Right now, there is no plan of launching this feature in India.
