There is a variety of smartphones available in the market at this point and each one of them boasts about having its own unique features. But with such a wide range of smartphones available in the market, the competition among different brands also keeps on increasing. With every brand competing for the top position with the latest specifications, Samsung has taken a noteworthy initiative that a lot of brands have ignored in the past and still ignore, the long-term software support.

The South Korean conglomerate has decided to tackle the long-standing issue of long-term software support and made an announcement they will be offering software security support for all the smartphones launched by the company in 2019 and after. These smartphones will get security updates for four years. The devices that will be compatible with this update are Samsung’s Flagship S, Z and Fold series, along with the Note series, the A-series, M-series and some other devices.

Users need to keep in mind that these are the security updates offered by Samsung and the usual Android OS updates. Hence, the next four Android versions will not be available to you but the four years of promised security by Samsung will still be an important aspect for keeping the device for a longer time.

The frequency update, however, of all the compatible Samsung devices may vary. Some of these devices may receive monthly security patch updates while others may receive a quarterly security patch update. This entire development came into place after the South Korean tech giant announced the Android update for three years for its Galaxy series smartphone in 2020.

The company is now introducing monthly and quarterly updates to the Galaxy phones extending an extra layer of security to them. These updates will be in place for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy A, Galaxy M, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy XCover smartphone series. The Galaxy Tab tablet lineup will also receive a similar update. This comes as welcome news as the company did not possess the best reputation when it came to updating its devices.

After this announcement, Samsung has followed in Google’s footsteps to biome the second company that provides faster updates to its smartphones.
