Whatsapp Rolls Out New Disappearing Photo Feature Called ‘View Once’ for Beta Users

It would not be wrong to say that Whatsapp is leaving no stone to update its app with new and exciting features for its users. It is rolling out various updates for the users to keep them hooked to the app. The facebook-owned app is releasing a new feature called ‘View Once’ for the beta users. Whatsapp is rolling out a disappearing photos feature for beta users which is similar to Instagram’s expiring media feature.

When the receiver opens the chat and clicks on the photo, it disappears when the user leaves the chatbox. Currently, this feature is available for Android Whatsapp users. WaBetaInfo shared the screenshots that reveal users will be allowed to send disappearing pictures by just choosing photos from the gallery. Once you have selected the photo, you will have to click on the clock-like icon that is displayed near the ‘Add a Caption’ bar. After that, you can send disappearing photos to your family members and friends.

The feature works for all types of content like videos, photos, and GIFs. This feature is available in Whatsapp’s 2.21.14.3 Android version. When you are sharing the media with anyone and if the view once button is not visible to you, it means you do not have this feature.

What do you need to know about this feature?

Even if you have disabled the blue tick option, the recipient will still be able to see if you have opened the media set to view once but you won’t be able to check when the recipient opened the image.

There is also a feature that allows you to see an image in a group even if it is a disappearing image. Even if the blue tick is off, you will still be able to see when other participants are opening expiring photos. There is also an option where the recipient can save the video or photo using the screen recording or screenshot feature and Whatsapp will not even notify you about the screenshot taken.

Using the ‘View Once’ button, you will be allowed to share the media in groups and you can see who all opened them in the ‘Message Info’ section. Blocked contacts will also be able to open photos and videos in common groups.
