Amazon Prime Video Now Available At ₹ 89 A Month For These Users

Amazon has launched the Prime Video Mobile Edition in collaboration with Bharti Airtel at a basic price of Rs 89 per month. With this amazing offer, India has become the first country to have Prime Video Mobile Edition. As per Jay Marine, the Vice President of Amazon Prime Video Worldwide, India is one of their fastest-growing territories in the world with very high engagement rates.

In the year 2019, it’s been recorded that Amazon Prime Video alone had over 23 million unique visitors in India. According to him, the usage of mobile phones in the past few years has increased significantly as it easy device to access anything online quickly, and with the launch of Prime Video Mobile Edition, they are looking forward to giving more original and entertaining content to the audience.

Over the top (OTT) players have witnessed massive growth in past years due to their affordable prices and boundless content. But with the pandemic, the demand for digital platforms has accelerated with a huge range of content at economic prices as we already are witnessing plenty number of shows on plenty of platforms since business have been investing their money into creating original shows, that too in multiple languages and are also buying rights to Bollywood film premieres as well as cricket games. Amazon has successfully established itself in India, manifested in its acquisition of big Bollywood titles like Coolie No. 1, Gulabo Sitabo, and others in 2020.

As this edition came in with the collaboration with Bharti airtel, all the airtel customers will get 30 days of a free trial by signing up to Amazon from the Airtel Thanks app using their mobile number. After 30 days, users can still enjoy the Prime Video Mobile Edition service at an affordable cost of Rs 89 for 28-days with 6GB data or choose a Rs 299 pack of 28-day validity that has Prime Video Mobile Edition alongside unlimited calls, data access of 1.5 GB per day.

Earlier Amazon Prime membership costs Rs. 129 a month or Rs. 999 per year. Airtel is the first partner for Amazon India to offer Prime Video Mobile Edition the company is looking forward to extending its affiliation with other telecom companies too. In 2019, Netflix individually introduced its mobile plan priced at ₹199 per month, so to increase the engagement Amazon has launched the Prime Video Mobile Edition. Along with the affordable rates, Prime Video has also offered multiple user access and high-resolution content streaming.

Gaurav Gandhi the director and India’s head for Amazon Prime Video, said in a phone interview that about 85% of internet access in India is via mobile devices, and about 90% of these users are using prepaid plans. So this Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition will democratize access to content and will cater to a large group audience.
