If there is one social media app that has grabbed the attention all across the world over the last few months, it has to be WhatsApp. After the entire debacle with the change in the privacy policy and people criticising it harshly, two different apps became overtly popular overnight. Telegram and Signal, since then, have tried to upgrade their features and maintain their customer base. However, despite all this controversy, WhatsApp continues to be one of the most popular and the most widely used chat applications all over the world. Even though the criticism was severe and the situation looked damaging, the reality is that WhatsApp is here to stay and is not going away anytime soon.

In case you are someone who has been using WhatsApp as a primary messaging app and still prefer WhatsApp over its contemporaries, you would be delighted to know about this new feature. I am sure everybody who uses WhatsApp must have wanted to send themselves a message or note at some point in time. The famous competitors of WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram have boasted of the “note to self’ feature for some time now. With this feature, users can just forward a particular message to themselves, but in the case of WhatsApp, users only have the option to ‘star’ a message. However, there are a number of limitations while using this ‘star’ feature. As an example, users can’t forward multiple messages at the same time.

In order to send a message to themselves back in the day, people discovered a hack, users would basically create a group with a friend or someone else and then the friend can leave the group or the user can remove them from the group. After the other person has been removed, the user can have a group chat with themselves.

Users can send multiple messages and even links to this group and keep it to themselves. They can also save various documents and photos in this chat for later. But that is not the case anymore because the global messaging platform, WhatsApp, has found a way around this limitation, and also a solution the users can utilize instead of using the age-old hack.

WhatsApp is also introducing a “Note To Self” feature where users can send messages to themselves, just like the feature Signal and Telegram offers. This feature created quite a buzz when it was launched and was quite liked by the users.

In case you want to use the “Note To Self” on WhatsApp, you will only have to follow five simple steps.

Here are the required steps:

Step 1: Open up the browser you use on your smartphone. You can open Firefox, or Chrome and even Samsung Internet if you want.

Step 2: You can now tap on the address bar, and type “http://wa.me/” and add your own phone number after that. Users need to remember to write their country codes. The final web address should look something like this – http://wa.me/+910123456789. You can press enter or hit Go.

Step 3: WhatsApp will then redirect the user to a page that features a big green button that will read“CONTINUE TO CHAT”. Users need to tap that button.

Step 4: Users will now be able to see a conventional WhatsApp chat window but with their own number (or name, in case you have saved your own number in your phone) at the top. You can type something and then hit send.

Step 5: Now your chat window “with yourself” will be present in your chat list even if you exit the app, and then you can forward the messages you want to yourself without any concerns. These messages with yourself will be synced with your devices, it will also be added to the backups in case you need to restore these messages to another device.
