Even though the entire world recently came to a standstill and every single industry was affected, there was one industry that bore the direct brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic and the worldwide lockdowns, it has to be the airline industries. With more travel bans taking place, most of the domestic flights were cancelled and international flights became a rare sight.

It wasn’t just the travel bans but also the added fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus while on the go. Hence, people avoided travelling entirely and still do so unless it is regarding an unavoidable concern. But airlines have been putting in diligent efforts in order to let the passengers know that flying with them is considerably safer in this post-COVID-19 time. Along with taking the necessary safety measures, airlines have been announcing new flights and are constantly looking for ways to make the flights more comfortable for the passengers.

One of these ways was to provide more flexibility to the people who have booked the tickets but are trying to reschedule their date of travel.  As a result, the British airline, Virgin Atlantic has announced its new policy that allows the passengers to change their date and flight schedules for their booking as many times as they want. The said airline has also made some added changes to its booking policies in order to further support its customers’ travel plans and provide them with more flexibility.

With these new policies, Virgin Atlantic has also extended the time period for free rebooking for all of its customers till April 30, 2023, in order to accommodate everybody’s rescheduled plans. This updated policy will allow all the people travelling by Virgin Atlantic who has made new bookings for up to April 30, 2022, and those who had cancelled their flights until August 31, 2021, to make unlimited free of cost changes to their travel dates or destination or even the origin. This policy will also allow one free name change on the flight booking and is applicable to the customers who have an open ticket with credit due to previous flight disruption.

The Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, Juha Jarvinen said, “We understand the difficulties that Covid-19 and ongoing travel restrictions may pose to our customers, so in order to support them we have revised and simplified our policies.”

The Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic further added “By further increasing flexibility, customers making new travel plans will enjoy unlimited opportunities to make free changes, all the way until April 30, 2023, offering greater peace of mind and enabling them to book future travel with confidence. We look forward to welcoming our customers back on board and when the time is right, flying them safely to their favourite destinations,”.

Passengers who cancelled a holiday or a flight can also choose to request a cash refund instead. On the other hand, the British airline has extended the cancellation date of all holidays up until February 28, 2021, and are also contacting the customers in departure date order to re-confirm the options that they can choose from.
