Check the New Features, Benefits of New Income Tax e-Filing Portal

A new e-filing portal of Income Tax Returns was launched on June 7 to make the process smoother by adding new features. The IT Department on June 1 took a dig at the old website and is now aiming to launch the e-filing portal (www.incometax.gov.in) to provide a more convenient and modern experience to taxpayers.

The purpose of the new portal is to work on the immediate processing of Income Tax returns to issue quick refunds to taxpayers. The Income Tax Department in a tweet said that “the new e-filing portal is on the final stage of the development process and will launch shortly.”

 

What are the features of the new Income Tax e-filing website?

  1. The hyperlink of the new e-filing portal has changed from www.incometax.gov.in to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

  2. The new portal will be user-friendly and will provide instant processing of Income Tax Returns and immediate refunds to taxpayers.

  3. There will be a single dashboard that will display all the uploads, pending actions, or the interactions for follow-up action by taxpayers.

  4. ITR Preparation Software will be free of cost and will be available to help taxpayers with interactive questions for ITRs 1, 4(Online and Offline) and ITR 2(Offline). The facility for ITRs 3,5,6,7 will be made available shortly.

  5. Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile that can be used in pre-filling their ITR by providing certain information details such as house property, business/profession, and salary.

  6. The detailed enablement of pre-filling with capital gains, interest, salary income, and the dividend will be available once SFT and TDS statements are uploaded for which the due date is June 30th, 2021.

  7. The new feature of the e-portal also includes a call center for taxpayer assistance for providing prompt responses to their queries. In addition to this, Videos, User Manuals, FAQs, and Chatbot/Live Agent will also be available.

  8. Functionalities for adding Tax Professionals, filing Income Tax Forms, and Submit Responses to Notices in Faceless Appeals or Scrutiny will also be available.

  9. The new IT portal will also have a new online tax payment system where it will have all the payment options like UPI, Net Banking, NEFT/RTGS, and Credit Card.

  10. The IT department will also be launching the mobile app where all the relevant features on the website will be available on the app.
